Laws and regulation

Ghana's system is two-circuit: the National Lottery Authority (NLA) oversees lotteries, and the Gaming Commission of Ghana licenses and controls casinos, bookmakers, slot machines and other case games.

Category licensing requires transparency of ownership structure, sources of capital, technical certification of KYC/AML platforms and policies; there is an 18 + age threshold and rules for responsible play and advertising.

Remote formats (online rates and iGaming) are allowed when obtaining a local license and fulfilling hosting/representation requirements, integration with approved payment providers and reporting.

Taxation is established by the regulator and tax authorities for operators and/or winnings.

For violations, fines, suspension/revocation of the license, blocking of domains and payment channels are provided.
