Kenya's gambling legal system is built around the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) regulator, which licenses bookmaking, casinos and lotteries and monitors compliance.

Basic requirements include 18 +, KYC/AML, local presence and reporting; for online operators - additional customer verification, limit management and integration with secure payment channels.

Advertising is regulated by content, time and placement, with a special emphasis on the protection of minors and responsible play.

The fiscal burden is formed by licenses and taxes, the parameters of which are specified through annual financial acts.

Supervision is carried out by inspections, suspension/revocation of licenses and restriction of access to unlicensed sites in coordination with payment and telecom providers.

The current vector is the modernization of rules, increased compliance, transparency of reporting and tools for protecting players.
