Laws and regulation
Gambling regulation in Liberia focuses on lotteries and sports betting, which are carried out under government permits/concessions and are accompanied by fiscal payments and reporting.
There are age restrictions (usually 18 +) and basic compliance requirements: customer identification (KYC), measures against money laundering (AML), transparency of settlements and operator responsibility for advertising and protecting players.
The casino segment is developed to a limited extent.
A specialized framework for online casinos is under formation: access to international platforms is actually possible, but their activities are not considered locally licensed.
The priority is the codification of rules, uniform tax approaches, increased supervision and the introduction of responsible play programs, including self-exclusion, limits and control over payments in mobile channels.
