Any attempts to organize games for money are considered illegal and carry sanctions risks for site owners.

For players and operators, the market is de facto closed; the nearest legal alternatives are the neighboring French Indian Ocean territories, where casinos operate under French law.

To monitor possible changes, it makes sense to track: the emergence of a basic licensing law, a tax model for GGR, as well as responsible play norms and AML/CFT.
