The future of the industry
Until 2030, Bangladesh is likely to maintain a ban on commercial gambling.
The main efforts will go into cyber control: blocking sites and applications, filtering transactions in mobile wallets, expanding KYC/AML and joint operations of regulators, banks and communication providers.
At the same time, educational campaigns and digital self-control tools (limits, self-exclusion) will intensify.
The gray online segment will remain a challenge due to VPNs and cryptocurrencies, so we expect an increase in investigations, anti-fraud analytics and measures against match-fixing in cricket and football.
Possible point reforms will be limited to charity rallies and transparent reporting; the scenario of legalizing betting/online casinos looks unlikely against the backdrop of a religious and ethical agenda and priorities for social stability.
