Gambling content in the classical sense - slots, roulette, blackjack, bakara, poker - is absent in Bhutan: there are no licenses, the installation of machines and the holding of "private" games are illegal.
Attempts to place gaming devices in hotels are interpreted as a violation, equipment is seized.
Part of the demand goes to the gray online segment (mobile applications, offshore sites), which carries the risks of non-payment and lack of player protection.
At the same time, the country has a strong cultural alternative to gambling: national archery, hura (throwing darts), degor and festival games are massive, but not gambling without a cash bet.
The state course is support for traditional entertainment and zero tolerance for slot machines and tables.
