Land-based casinos
There are no land-based casinos in Bhutan: the current legislation prohibits the opening and operation of gaming halls, casinos and betting points.
Hotels, resorts and clubs cannot obtain gambling licenses, and attempts to "disguise" slot machines as entertainment devices are interpreted as illegal.
Supervisors conduct raids, confiscate equipment and fine organizers.
The country's tourism model relies on culture, trekking and "high value - low volume," so no "play areas" are planned.
A separate focus of the authorities is to prevent the appearance of gray clubs in border areas and block advertising of offshore services.
