Sports and betting

Iran is a country with a vibrant sports identity: football, classical and freestyle wrestling, weightlifting and volleyball gather a multi-million audience.

At the same time, any sports betting (offline and online) is completely prohibited by Sharia and criminal law.

The state suppresses illegal channels: filtering sites and applications, blocking payment transfers, the work of cyber police; serious sanctions are provided for organizing and promoting betting.

Amateur interest in analytics and statistics exists, but monetization through betting is illegal.

The general vector is support for mass sports without a gambling component and a tough suppression of illegal bets.
