Sports and betting
In Kyrgyzstan, sports are held on three pillars: mass football (major league, national team, Bishkek derby - OSH), Olympic martial arts (freestyle/Greco-Roman wrestling, boxing, judo) and ethnosport.
Traditional equestrian games - primarily kok-boru - are a symbol of cultural identity and a visiting card of the country at international festivals.
Issyk-Kul supports summer sports tourism and running/cycling competitions, and futsal and basketball are popular in cities.
Rates are moderately developed: the legal sphere has historically been restrained by prohibitive policies, so the market is small and fragmented.
Offline points accept bets on football, boxing and martial arts; the online segment partially goes to foreign platforms, where players go due to the convenience of lines and live betting.
The state approach is cautious: the priority is control, protection of minors and the fight against illegal trafficking.
The trend in recent years is to discuss a clearer framework for limited and controlled betting, primarily around major tournaments and national leagues.
