In 2025, Mongolian legislation was revised towards a strict restriction of gambling practices: a complete ban was introduced on paid forecasts, sports betting and online gambling.

The amendments criminalize both organizing and participating in illegal betting; government agencies were empowered to block sites, track and suppress financial flows related to the game.

Initiatives to partially legalise or pilot previous years have been delayed or scrapped - prioritising public safety and tackling capital outflows.

For operators, this means the actual closure of the legal market and the risks of criminal and administrative liability when trying to continue operations.
