Sri Lanka's gaming market is compact and centered around Colombo and coastal resorts, where slots and board games in entertainment halls form revenue, and government lotteries generate massive revenue across the country.

Flows to the budget are made up of licenses, gross gaming income tax (GGR) and general income/employment taxes, so regulation focuses on box office transparency and AML/KYC.

Tourism raises the average check and load during the high season (winter months and major cricket events), whereas cricket betting creates notable seasonality and spikes in turnover.

On the cost side - importing equipment, training personnel and upgrading the payment infrastructure; the share of non-cash payments (QR and e-wallet) is growing, which improves reporting and control.

In parallel, there is a gray online segment through offshore sites that takes part of GGR abroad; the answer is payment filters, limits, and responsible play programs.

Basic KPIs for monitoring: GGR per visitor, share of lotteries in total revenue, ARPU of the online segment, loading of halls by days/hours, share of non-cash transactions, "tourist share" of visits and margin after LKR fluctuations.

The general vector is cautious growth due to tourism, mobile payments and standardization of processes.
