Land-based casinos
In Turkey, terrestrial casinos are prohibited: hotels, clubs and entertainment centers cannot place gaming tables or slot halls.
The police regularly stop clandestine sites, and the organizers face heavy fines and criminal liability; the premises are closed, the equipment is confiscated.
Only lotteries and mutual sports betting (through state operators) remain legal.
Due to the ban, "gambling tourism" has formed outside the country: Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Georgian Batumi and neighboring markets of Eastern Europe are popular.
The trend for the domestic market is the preservation of the ban and increased control, and for the consumer - a shift in demand for online betting and trips to nearby "casino hubs."
