Sports and betting

Football, national wrestling, athletics, martial arts and equestrian competitions with an emphasis on the Akhal-Teke breed are leading in the sports culture of Turkmenistan.

At the same time, sports betting is not legalized: bookmakers and online betting are prohibited, advertising and payment operations in favor of operators are suppressed.

Any attempt to organise or promote betting is seen as breaking the law.

The focus of the state is the development of mass and school sports, national disciplines and an international image without involving the gambling segment.
