Culture and history
The game culture of BiH took shape at the crossroads of empires: cafes-salons and clubs of Sarajevo and Mostar inherited the secular practices of Austria-Hungary, and folk lotteries and sweepstakes strengthened already in the Yugoslav era as "socially acceptable" forms of leisure.
After the 1990s, the industry revived along with urban life: modern clubs and small casinos, poker series and slot halls appeared, and tourism (Sarajevo, Mostar, Neum) gave demand a seasonal rhythm.
In popular culture, the game is adjacent to football, basketball, sevdalinka music and cafe tradition: casinos are perceived as part of the evening city leisure, while online formats have simplified the "home" betting and slot culture.
