The gambling economy in Iceland has a purely limited scale.

The state tightly controls the financial flows and reporting of operators in order to exclude commercial motivation and abuse.

The sector's GDP share is minimal, and the tax return is expressed more in the social effect than in direct budget revenues.

This model provides stability and complies with the principle of "game without profit," enshrined in the Icelandic regulatory philosophy.
