Sports and betting
In Iceland, commercial sports betting is prohibited: there are no licensed bookmakers either online or offline.
The exception is charitable sports pools and lottery formats conducted by registered organizations under state control; income is allocated to social projects.
Fans actively follow football (league, national team), handball, basketball and winter disciplines, but their interest is not converted into mass betting due to legal restrictions.
There is no betting advertising, access to permitted games - from the age of 18, with an emphasis on responsible and discreet communication.
This approach supports a sports culture without developing a commercial betting industry.
