Since 2019, the Slovak market has been operating under the updated Gambling Law.
Central supervision is carried out by Úrad pre reguláciu hazardných hier (URHH).
Licensing of both land-based casinos and halls and online operators (casinos and betting) is allowed; at the same time, lotteries remain in the sphere of the state operator TIPOS.
Mandatory KYC/AML, age 18 +, risk warnings, self-removal and register of excluded persons (including socially vulnerable).
Municipalities may prohibit gaming halls by local regulations.
To combat the "gray" market, a register of prohibited domains is maintained with blocking access and financial transactions.
Advertising and bonuses are strictly regulated, with the priority of responsible play and transparent reporting.
