The DGOJ regulator publishes dynamic panels and annual reports that allow you to track deposits, active players and marketing expenses. The 2024 figures were affected by the partial repeal by a number of provisions of Royal Decree 958/2020 by the Supreme Court, which eased restrictions on advertising and promotions for licensed operators. At the same time, supervision and sanctions against unlicensed sites are increasing: in 2018-2024 alone, thousands of illegal sites were closed and large fines were imposed. The tax burden varies across autonomous communities and is usually calculated as a share of GGR (including variable rates on bets and sliding scales on casinos/machines), which affects the regional economy and employment in tourism and entertainment.
