Laws and regulation
In Saudi Arabia, gambling is completely prohibited by religious and criminal law.
This applies to all forms - casinos, bookmaking, poker, sweepstakes, lotteries and online gambling.
There is no specialized regulator: supervision is carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor's office, and Internet access to gaming sites is blocked (through the digital regulator and providers).
For organizing or participating, fines, imprisonment and confiscation of proceeds are provided; financial transactions with a "gaming" meta are subject to anti-money laundering rules.
Advertising and sponsorship by betting operators will not be tolerated.
Only competitions and promotions are allowed, where there is no element of excitement (contribution/randomness) - that is, "skill games" with prizes, subject to strict conditions and no bets.
For business and media, the strategy is the same: a complete rejection of gambling services, focus on sports and entertainment content without a gaming component.
