Where online casinos are legal in the US

Online casinos (iGaming: slots and board games through the site/application) in the United States are allowed only in certain jurisdictions. Why the list is short

Federalism: Each state decides for itself whether to allow iGaming and on what terms. The national summaries of 2025 converge: iCasino is legal in seven states.

How it works in practice

1) Geolocation. You can only play inside the licensor state - applications use certified geofencing.

2) Binding to an offline partner. Almost everywhere, the online brand is "tied" to the local casino/lottery (host/skin model). In Connecticut, online casinos operate through tribal agreements and state licenses.

3) Regulators. Permits are issued by relevant state authorities (for example, DGE in New Jersey; the Delaware Lottery controls the vertical and chose RSI as the provider).
