Laws and regulation
The regulatory base in Fiji is acts formalizing the procedure for holding lotteries and responsibility for illegal "playhouses"; permits are issued centrally, and the organizers submit reports and pay a tax on the circulation of gambling.
There is no separate comprehensive law for sports betting yet, so general rules on gambling and raffles apply to them.
Government policy on casinos is cautious: a previously issued licence has been revoked, cementing a low-key approach to the industry.
Operators are required to take into account the age limit (18 +), KYC/AML requirements and principles of responsible play, including informing players and self-restraint mechanisms.
