Economics and statistics
Palau is a small island economy in Micronesia with a population of several tens of thousands of people.
The currency is the US dollar, which reduces currency risks, but limits independent monetary policy.
The basis of GDP is formed by tourism (diving, sea tours), fishing/licenses in the EEZ, as well as the public sector and external support.
The private sector is represented by small businesses, import dependence is high, logistics is expensive.
The gambling segment is virtually non-existent: there are no land-based casinos, classic online casinos are not licensed; experimental digital concessions (virtual "pachinko," lotteries) do not have a noticeable macro impact.
Diversification of tourism products, sustainable fishing and infrastructure are prioritized for the budget; the contribution of gambling is negligible.
