Introduction: Federated Model

Argentina regulates lotteries and gambling by jurisdiction - each province and city of Buenos Aires (CABA) has its own organising bodies. Coordination between them goes through the ALEA association, which unites 24 regulators.

Quiniela: folk classics with multiple circulations a day

What is that. Quiniela is the country's most popular numerical product. This is a "bank" game: winnings are calculated at fixed odds, not from the total jackpot. Circulations are held by lotteries of each jurisdiction (province and CABA).

How they play. 20 numbers of 4 digits (0000-9999) are played. CABA and a number of provinces have several daily circulations (morning, afternoon, evening, night); LOTBA states that there are up to five draws per day.

Payments (typical for CABA and a number of provinces):

4 digits - × 3500 to the bet;
3 digits - × 600;
2 digits - × 70;
1 digit - × 7.

Telekino: Sunday circulation 15 of 25 + "Rekino"

Format. Classic 15/25 bingo format: draw 15 balls out of 25; winnings are distributed from 11 matches and higher. The ticket contains two game nets; there is an additional Rekino draw. Circulations - on Sundays, broadcast on air and digital channels.

Who is organizing today. On January 9, 2022, the rights and organization of Telekino were transferred to the Instituto Provincial de Lotería y Casinos de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires Provincial Lottery). The game is also promoted through agency networks around the country.

Lotería Nacional: Historic role and liquidation in 2018

Which was. The National Lottery (Lotería Nacional Sociedad del Estado) has long overseen federal games (including the Prode, "La Grande de la Nacional"). In 2016-2017, organizational changes and the transfer of a number of games to Lotería de la Ciudad took place.

What became. Decree No. 95/2018 transferred Lotería Nacional to a state of liquidation; discontinued Prote and remaining federal products. The media and official publications confirm the decision and its reasons (lack of their own jurisdiction and transfer of competencies). By 2019, the liquidation and transfer of assets were completed.

Bottom line for the player. Today, raffles and ticket sales are provincial and CABA competencies; in CABA it is Lotería de la Ciudad/LOTBA (official results and live broadcasts).

Provinces: lottery sites of Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Mendoza, etc. publish regulations and coefficients; there is no federal "unified" showcase.

Telekino: information on tickets, online registration and participation in Sunday draws is available on the website of the Buenos Aires Provincial Lottery and in major media.

Brief: how the three products differ

Quiniela - frequent (up to several times a day) circulations, fixed multipliers, bet on the exact number and/or positions in the "extract" (including "a la cabeza").

Telekino - weekly circulation of 15 out of 25, categories of winnings by the number of matches + additional Rekino.

Lotería Nacional - historical organizer of federal games; eliminated by decree 95/2018, functions are distributed across jurisdictions.

Advice to players

Check which lottery of your province organizes the product and where the official regulations and results are published. For CABA, the reference point is the Lotería de la Ciudad/LOTBA sites; by Telekino - Buenos Aires Provincial Lottery pages and Sunday circulation announcements.
