How the RevShare model works for partners
RevShare (Revenue Share) is a model in which a partner receives a percentage of the operator's net revenue from attracted players. In iGaming, this is not "fast money" like CPA, but a long investment in quality traffic, content and retention. The key to profit is to understand what the revenue is made of, what deductions are applied, how the rules are arranged (negative carryover, amnesties, cap), and keep the discipline of metrics.
1) Basic definitions
GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue) - gross "gaming revenue": bets − winnings of players.
Net/NGR (Net Gaming Revenue) - net gaming revenue after deductions (below). It is from her that RevShare is more often paid.
RevShare% - fixed or floating percentage of NGR (for example, 25-45% +), sometimes - steps in terms of turnover/number of active.
The player's LTV is the player's total net lifetime revenue (usually 6-24 + months, dependent on GEO/product).
Cohort - a group of users who came in the same period/source; RevShare analytics framework.
2) What is subtracted from GGR before calculating RevShare
The exact formula is spelled out in the offer/contract. Deductions are common:1. Bonuses and promo (wagering fact, not face value).
2. Provider-fee (percentage per game/live tables).
3. Payment commissions (input/output), chargebacks.
4. Taxes and regulatory fees (if applicable under GEO/license).
5. Jackpots/insurances (in some jurisdictions).
6. Fraud/duplicates (after validation).
An example of a simplified NGR scheme:- 'NGR = GGR − Bonuses − Provider-fee − Payment commissions − Taxes (if in the model) '
- 'Payout = NGR × RevShare% '(taking into account the rules of carryover/cap/minimum).
3) Politicians who are changing the economy
Negative Carryover (minus transfer). If in the month the player/cohort went into the red (won more than lost), this minus can be transferred to the next period. Look for the no negative carryover (better) or limited carryover (amnesty to close the month/VIP).
Player lifespan. Ideal - "lifetime." Sometimes limited to 12-24 months or the state "while the player is active for N consecutive months."
Minimum payout. Threshold (e.g. $100- $500). The remainder is carried over.
Holds and verification. Terms before payment (Net-7/14/30), KYC partner, confirmation of traffic sources.
Quality revisions. The brand can revise the percentage with a strong share of fraud/returns.
Cap by level. Some programs hold the RevShare% fork in active player steps/turnover.
4) To whom and when RevShare is suitable
Suitable if:- you know how to bring organic/content/social media/high-retention chat traffic;
- use Telegram/SEO/community/YouTube/forums and build trust;
- ready to play long (payback of 2-6 + months) and count cohorts/LTV.
- you have a new source with uncertain quality;
- budget is limited and fast cashflow is needed;
- you are testing "ligaments" and there is still no certainty about retention.
5) Formulas and benchmarks in RevShare analytics
NGR per player (for period N):- `NGR_per_user_N = Σ(NGR_i) / count(users)`
- 'Payout _ N = (Σ NGR_i) × RevShare% − transfers/holds'
- 'ROMI _ N = (Σ Payout_N − Attraction Costs )/Costs'
- Payback: The day/month when accrued payments ≥ costs.
- 'K = (CR KYC × share of repeated deposits × D30/D90 retention) '- not a payment formula, but a signal indicator.
6) How to read partner reports
Be sure to request/verify that dashboards contain:- GGR/NGR split (what and how much subtracted).
- Bonuses (accrued/converted), payment fee, provider-fee.
- Breakdown by player: deposits/withdrawals, statuses, RG events (limits/self-exclusion).
- Cohorts: LTV_D30/D90/D180 by source/GEO/campaign.
- Carryover: Amnesty is believed to be granted.
- Fraud summary: duplicates/chargebacks/exclusions.
7) Risks and how to manage them
Negative carryover "eats up" payments. Look for offers without it or with an amnesty to close the month/VIP.
High proportion of bonus hunters. Add honest conditions to content and do not promise "easy" scenarios; direct to guides/demo/Responsible.
Dependence on one GEO/brand. Diversify your portfolio, keep 2-3 licensed offers.
Retention drawdowns. Monitor onboarding, payment methods and support - this affects NGR.
Compliance and reputation. Any clickbait/promises → bans/rejections. Keep a neutral tone and condition chart.
8) When to switch to hybrid (CPA + RevShare)
You have a stable flow of FTD and at least 2-3 months a positive NGR trend.
We need money "now" to scale tests, but there is confidence in the tail of LTV.
Scheme: low CPA (partially covers tests) + RevShare on tail. Tracking by cohort is mandatory.
9) Ethics, Responsible and Content
Always give the page "All bonus conditions": size, vager, term, contribution of games, exceptions, max cashout, optional GEO.
Wording - without promises of results. Use ranges: "output usually 15 min - 24 h after KYC; depends on the method."
Visible 18 + tagging and Responsible links/GEO help.
Show demos/guides, answer frequent questions - this improves retention and your RevShare tail.
10) RevShare Negotiation Checklist
- Calculation base: GGR or NGR? Full list of deductions.
- Percentage/steps: fix/scale, revision conditions.
- Negative carryover: no/limited/amnesty; VIP/jackpot rules.
- Lifetime: Life or N months of inactivity?
- Hold/disbursements: Net-7/14/30, currency, methods, rate.
- Reporting: which sections and how often; unloading by players.
- Compliance: permitted sources, pre-moderation of creatives, Telegram/UGC/SEO/PPC rules.
- Escalations: Who resolves controversial write-offs/fraud and timing responses.
11) RevShare Mini Calculator (example)
Suppose:- 100 new players, GGR for the month = $20,000.
- Deductions: bonuses $2,000, provider-fee $3,000, payments $1,000.
- NGR = 20 000 − 2 000 − 3 000 − 1 000 = $14 000.
- Your RevShare 35% → $4,900 for the month.
- Cost of raising $3,000 → ROMI_1m = (4,900 − 3,000 )/3,000 = 63%.
- If there is no carryover and retention is stable, the next month (even with less GGR) can increase cumulative ROMI to 120-200% +.
12) Frequent Questions (FAQs)
Is RevShare always more profitable than CPA?
No, it isn't. RevShare - about the "tail length." If the hold is weak or the offer is "hard" subtracting, CPA/Hybrid may be better.
Why did the payments "sink," although the traffic is the same?
Deductions worked: bonuses/payment fee increased, retention worsened, a large win (VIP) hit and carryover turned on.
Can I ask for "no negative carryover"?
Yes, especially if you bring stable non-incident traffic and take responsibility for quality. The compromise is a VIP/month closure amnesty.
How to speed up the exit to plus?
Focus on post-click: guides, KYC-FAQ, payment pages with time ranges, quick support - this increases retention and NGR.
13) 30/60/90 day RevShare implementation plan
0-30 days - foundation
Select 2-3 licensed offers with transparent NGR formula and desired no carryover.
Launch content/Telegram/SEO/community: fix "All bonus conditions," KYC-FAQ, payments (ranges).
Configure UTM/diplinks/events: 'open _ demo', 'read _ faq', 'start _ kyc', 'contact _ support'.
Dashboards: GGR→NGR, deductions, Payout, cohort LTV_D30.
31-60 days - quality stabilization
A/B formats: longrid vs condition card; route kanal→bot→LP vs directly.
Improve page payment/FAQ (response time, statuses).
Negotiating RevShare/carryover amnesty stage at steady retention rates.
61-90 days - scale
Diversify GEO/offers, but keep 70% of traffic in the best bundles.
Consider Hybrid to speed up cashflow without worsening RevShare's tail.
Enter holdout-coHORTs to evaluate the increment from content and chats (impact on NGR/complaints/tickets).
14) Anti-patterns (avoid)
"Guaranteed winnings," pseudo-urgency, hidden conditions.
Traffic to the "main" without a condition table/demo/FAQ.
One offer/one GEO is high risk.
Ignore post-click: no guides/KUS-FAQ/payment tips.
Lack of analysis of deductions: "we take our word for it."
15) Ready-made safe wording (copy)
LP headline: "All bonus terms - on one page"
Subtitle: "Wager, Term, Game Contribution, Exceptions - Example Table"
CTA: "View Terms "/" Open Demo "/" Check Output Methods"
Payments: "Withdrawal: usually 15 min - 24 h after KYC; depends on method"
Caption: "Terms apply 18 + Play responsibly"
RevShare is a marathon where a partner who knows how to work with quality and retention wins: transparent content, honest conditions, help with KYC and payments, respectful tone and responsible communication. Understand the NGR formula and rules (carryover, lifetimes), count cohorts and ROMIs, negotiate fair terms - and your RevShare tail will become sustainable, predictable and profitable.
