How to check the relevance of the license on the regulator's website
Why it matters
"The license is" ≠ "the license is valid for your domain today." Regulators maintain public registers where status (Active/Current), expiration date, brands/domains, as well as sanctions and suspensions are visible. Checking in the registry protects against playing with an operator with a suspended or someone else's license.
Fast algorithm (5 steps)
Step 1. Collect source data on the casino website
We need:- license number;
- legal entity (full name, form: Ltd/LLC/SA, etc.);
- exact domain (example. com, without mirrors/subdomains);
- regulator name;
- if necessary - an indication of the white-label (work through the platform licensee).
Step 2. Find the official register of the regulator

Step 3. Search by number and legal entity
Drive in:- License number (exact, no spaces/extra characters)
- company name (take into account the options: "Ltd," "Limited," "OÜ," "S.A.," etc.).
- Matching one field is good, both are perfect.
Step 4. Read the license card carefully
Check:- Status: Active/Current/Live — ок; Suspended/Revoked/Expired/Canceled - not allowed.
- Expiry/Valid to/Next review - expiration/recertification date.
- Trading names/Brands - listed commercial names.
- Authorized URLs/Domains - Your domain must be listed (or indicate brand usage on this license).
- Authorized activities - allowed verticals (casino/live/sports) so that there is no "inconsistency of the type of activity."
- Sanctions/Disciplinary actions - fines, warnings, suspensions.
- Licensee - exactly the legal entity that is indicated in the rules on the site.
Step 5. If it is a white-label (platform license)
In the platform licensee registry, verify that your domain/brand is listed among the authorized. Without this, you are formally "out of coverage."
How to interpret statuses and fields
Active/Current/Live - valid license. Check dates and domains.
Suspended/Temporarily suspended. You can't go.
Revoked/Cancelled/Cancelled - no longer licensed.
Expired - expired, no extension.
Conditional/Provisional - conditional status; read notes (often with restrictions).
Change of control/Transfer pending - change of ownership/structure; increased attention.
Authorized URLs/Trading as - most often caught here: the brand matches, but the domain does not.
What is mandatory to verify in addition to status
1. Legal person
Does the full name (registration form, punctuation marks) match? Different legal entities with similar names ≠ the same thing.
2. Domains and mirrors
The card must contain exactly the domains used. Zercolo/new domain without registry mention - risk.
3. Verticals and geo
If "casino" is allowed in the registry, and the site actively promotes "sports," check that this is also indicated. Pay attention to the list of prohibited countries - a licensed site should not accept players from them.
4. Yeah, you
Issue/Granted - date of issue.
Renewal/Valid to - renewal/expiration.
Last update - when the card was last updated (helps to understand whether the information is relevant).
5. Sanctions/Warnings
Recent sanctions/suspensions are a reason to be wary, even if the status is already Active.
Red flags (best not to continue)
The casino website does not have a license number and a legal entity - only a picture of the regulator's logo.
In the register by number - another legal entity or Suspended/Revoked/Expired status.
The card does not have your domain/brand, and the support "evades the answer."
"Platform License" is claimed, but your domain/brand is not in the platform licensee card.
Non-flexible audit "certificates" (eCOGRA/GLI), general pictures instead of verification pages.
There is no independent ADR/Ombudsman in the rules (mandatory for many licenses).
They ask you to send documents for KYC to the messenger/email, and not through your personal account.
Frequent subtleties (and how not to make a mistake)
Registrar differences: "Limited" vs "Ltd," "S.A." vs "SA" is the same company, but drive in both forms.
Cache and copies: browser caches/archives (cache/stale pages) of the registry can show old data; refresh the page, check the last refresh time.
Subdomains: if 'brand is specified in the registry. com ', and you're on' play. brand. com '- usually ok (one root domain). Но `brand-casino. com 'is already a different domain.
Legal entity group: the holding may have several licenses for different legal entities; check what is specified in the site rules.
Multilicenses: one brand has different domains under different jurisdictions - check a specific domain.
Support Request Template (if something doesn't add up)
1. Full legal entity and license number.
2. Link to the card in the registry with our domain/brand.
3. If you use white-label, specify the platform licensee and a link to his card, which lists our domain/brand.
4. Who is your ADR/Ombudsman and how to file a complaint?
Thank you!
Refusal or "vague answers" is a good reason not to register.
Mini-FAQ
The domain is in the registry, but the status is "Suspended." Can I play?
No, it isn't. Suspension means banning activities until the status is removed.
There is a company in the registry, but there is no brand/domain. Is that normal?
No, it isn't. Your specific domain/brand must be associated with a license (Authorized URLs/Trading names).
Is White-label safe?
Yes, if the domain/brand is directly listed with the platform licensee and Active status.
Screen "certificate" on the casino site - proof?
No, it isn't. Trust only the regulator's public register (and ADRs in disputes).
Registry is not located/unavailable. What to do?
Check the correctness of the name of the regulator, try another browser/device, look through the official portal of the regulator. If you still don't have access, don't take the risk.
Relevance checklist (print)
- There is a license number, a full legal entity and the name of the regulator on the casino website.
- Found an official registry (HTTPS, regulator domain).
- License card Active/Current status, dates and recent update.
- The legal entity matches the site rules.
- Brands/Authorized URLs list includes my brand/domain.
- Allowed verticals visible (casino/sports/live) - corresponds to the site.
- No fresh sanctions/suspensions; or they are removed and the status is active.
- For white-label, my domain/brand is listed with the platform licensee.
- The rules specify the ADR/Ombudsman and the procedure for complaints.
- Made a screen of the license card/saved the link (in case of dispute).
Checking the validity of a license is not a "search for a logo in a footer," but a neat verification of the status, legal entity, domain/brand, dates and sanctions in the official register. Spend 10-15 minutes: if everything comes together, you play calmer; if at least one key point is not confirmed, it is better to pass by and save money and nerves.
